handshake

Saw An old friend who i have lost touch with and she didn't recognize know who I was. Saw someone else (unsure if I know them in real life) put out my hand to give handshake and was rejected by the person. Was a woman my age. Think stranger. Felt like crap. What does it mean when someone does t shake ur hand? Maybe someone can't be trusted?
