I was at a gas station late at night, right before closing. My parents owned the gas station and it was in my hometown, Oxford. There were animals everywhere. I noticed one weird looking one that approached me. It was an “elephant capybara” which looked like a cross between a tapir and capybara. I took it in along with a friendly cat and her kittens. The capybara and the cats got along so well and it was adorable. They cuddled together. Capybaras were not known to be native to New England so the fact that I discovered one was a major news piece locally and eventually I became famous for it.
