Soccer and Climate Change

John C is hosting a Climate Change conference for the usual labour activists. A man is talking to a film strip and I am falling asleep. I know it's a dream because we're in the City but in the other room, I was in the South, and there's no way to travel that far in 5 min. So I'm not worried about John seeing me sleeping, plus others in the room are nodding off, even snoring. John is getting intense so I sit up and he demands, "Tell us the worst environmental impact of soccer." I play soccer, I almost say, but it sounds too braggy. "The grassy field," I reply. "Grass is an invader and offers no nourishment for native species." I can see that was not the answer. John is tired of my focus on biodiversity because Climate Change is the thing. I am tired of endless presentations and want to DO something. But I comply. "The soccer ball," I try again and he seems to like that better. "Made of plastic which is a oil product." Fuckers.
