ambiguous den

Dream fragment I was in some sort of abandoned building, where the architect worked it into the natural landscape. It was a large room that opened up toward nature, with either a mountain or some other natural scenery where a “window” should have been. I was looking around the place and saw it was strewn with clutter and debris from a person living there. There were random and various every day objects you would find in a home: paper, clothing, furniture, etc. There was no rhyme or reason how the place was, as if someone just didn't care about their surroundings, or just had a temper tantrum and didn't bother cleaning up. While I was there, I didn't notice there was some sort of cat in my presence. It was a big cat with huge claws and a playful, cautious personality. Huge claws? This is a baby tiger I'm face to face with! And what a beautiful face! Expressive, big, blue eyes. I think we both realized we were not a threat to each other, so the lion cub rubbed up against me and let me pick him up. I knew I had to go and could not stay, and it broke my heart to leave the baby. But maybe the mama was nearby. I was torn, unaware if the mama was dead or out for a hunt. When I awoke and thought about the dream, I realized den was the right word to describe that cave, because it's used in nature and in man-made homes.
