My mom has new family over, new neighbors in the back townhome. All are quite into The Bear. Two cars parked in the garage are my new cousins, and both have one large Carmy sticker on back window amongst typical highschooler male interest stickers of women, anime characters, etc. Ford Zebra and a Ford Zebry. Neighbor in back has a shirt with all main characters from The Bear. I’m checking out the cars when one of the cousins comes home. We seem to click right away. He has the Zebra but is a little jealous of his brother’s Zebry. As we’re chatting, a gray haired women comes marching down the driveway and comes right at us. “Has it ever occurred to you that maybe when you get your neighbor’s newspaper, that you should bring it to them?” The woman asked in a stern, sassy tone Me and her get into an argument about it after I initially try to help and she continues to yell. At this point I’m very upset with her, but also showing off to my cousin how tough I am for some reason. I point out that newspapers don’t have your name printed on them, that we receive our own newspaper, and that she ought to just have asked nicely like a normal person to begin with. Except lots of swearing and getting in her face, being intimidating. I’m really not being good about this myself either, I’m making a scene. However good my points are. Anyway the lady is good at handling the heat and that helps calm me down. I tell her that we’ll of course be on the lookout and let the delivery person know she’s been missing hers. The middle-aged woman calms down some herself and reveals that many things are going wrong at her home, including utilities being shut off. Both my cousin and me are starting to realize that she may have dementia or some mental illness, but dinner is ready upstairs and we leave her/it at that. Skip to fairgrounds with family. Cousins, mom, aunts, and strangers all get on roller coaster ride. I stay behind and watch There’s that old woman again. Quickly after the ride starts I see the old woman get into a heated argument with another woman in front of her. She somehow manages to pull the coaster seat of the woman in front closer to her while screaming, asking how she likes that. Ride ends, they all get off. Drama is basically just over except everyone wants to get out of there. Except me and my cousin I guess. I rush up to meet him and the “ride” is suddenly this platform game. One giant octagon. A bunch of recessed balls that pop up, basically like Whack-a-mole. This one you use your feet to stomp the balls back down. All the while we’re kicking a ping pong ball around the platform aimlessly. None of the three of us on the platform know how to score points. The ping pong ball is kicked to the border of the ride and falls through the fence The end
