Poor Economy

I was watching a show set in a simple little town. One Aristocrat showed herself as a very caring woman who gives money to the poor - and there was a lot of poor to give to. The story followed a decently rich man who was investigating events in the town. In this town, “1 dollar” was worth much more than it does in real life, and the aristocrat lady had 500 dollars that she was keeping to herself. She didn’t let anyone know this however. No one except the investigator. The town was in an economic crisis and the investigator needed to talk to some people. Those people were occupied when he saw them, so he chucked coins at their company to pay them to begone. There, he let it slip that the outwardly kind, generous aristocrat lady was hoarding 500 dollars. As the town was facing desperate times, this meant a lot. The final scene of the season was a mob of people bursting through the lady’s door and stealing stuff. The lady was trampled in the process and it was pretty fucked.
