The Fog (4)

I awoke... I didn't know where I was... Immediately I felt metal beneath me, cool and hard. I picked myself up off my back and looked around - Grey. I couldn't see anything through the fog. I walked a bit further down the sturdy metal platform, when a huge shadow started growing through the fog ahead. I quickly realized it was a cliff face... And then it hit me. I felt myself being thrown harshly off the platform at the ear breaking sounds of crunching metal. I landed safely on soft sand... When I was sure I was alive I turned back - A huge airplane carrier had been my instrument of desolation. The massively gaping and still flaming holes in the sides denoted a previous attack, possibly why the ship was empty. I turned back, not knowing what else to do, and walked along the beach. It had been a bit before I saw the shadow of a large bridge shine through the fog, and beneath it, three other Humans. A middle aged and healthy looking Male, beside him a slightly younger but equally healthy female. Both were almost completely naked despite something to cover their genitals. The young man pushed a wheelchair where sat an elder, completely clothed in a white robe, with long, whispy, grey strands of hair from his skinny head and face. I asked them where we were and what was going on. The Woman seemed unsure of what to say and looked to the Man for guidance. The Man simply pointed to the Elder and said to talk to him. The Elder beckoned me closer... "Go to the Tower and find the Cure... Save us, save us, close the Door." As I inched away from his face, his left hand pointed up the shore to what I saw now to be a huge spanning city working its way up the cliff face. 'looks familiar' I thought. Taking my leave, I walked up a set of stone stairs torwards the city as they continued their outing along the shore. I had only walked a few miles in of short towers and stone homes before I noticed something very strange... The City was completely empty... The Fog had swallowed it whole. Every door was ripped off the hinges and made to evaporate. The windows were flung wide open, all of them, and in each home was darkness. Not a stick of furniture, or so much as a newspaper scuttled across the empty alleys. Then, I saw something, and I hid immediately. A figure in the Fog... It was walking. 'its a person' I thought, 'maybe I can get some help!' It walked... No, it hobbled closer... Then I made out the silhouette. The legs, twisted, mutated, barely able to hold itself up... The arms, if there were any, doubled into its chest... It's stomach was surely decomposed... It's spine was only visible beneath its chest... It didn't speak. It gurgled, clicked and growled. 'Dear, God..' I was scared. 'I have to get out of here...' And then I woke up.
