TLDR: I dreamt friends and I were playing a survival-zombie video game where your choices in what your party had affected the game's plot I dreamt that I was hanging out with some friends, and we were totally invested in playing this zombie first person shooter game (and I use the term zombie very lightly, because these creatures were pale, gaunt, and terrifying to look at). It had a whole story that my friends and I were all really into. The basic plot of the video game was that America was suffering a zombie apocalypse, but it was slowly spreading. Some parts of America had been affected for a long time, some just now were being infected, and many towns had yet to be infected. Your character (who had no name) is the main protagonist who has been traveling across the country. He came from a town that has been infected for a long time, and was basically an expert when it came to fighting these creatures as well as survival. Our character showed up in a small town that was just beginning to be infected, and many of the young adults there were desperate for help. So our character leads a small band of people, showing them how to fight, teaching them survival skills and being a badass leader. The thing is, the specific skills you taught to each member of your party affected the plot in insane ways. A 'perfect' ending was one where no one in your group turned or died, and you all continued on your way to a different town. At one point your character and a young girl Kasey in the group were separated from everyone else. She wanted you to teach her a skill as you were walking to a building, and 4 options came up. My friends and I chose to teach Kasey "play dead" because there was a creature that would hunt you down, but wouldn't attack you if you laid motionless and it thought you were dead. Kasey is grateful, and we head into a building. While in the building, we come across a type of zombie/creature that climbs around the walls. Kasey's skills with a gun were pretty weak still (and looking back, if we had worked with her shooting skills a bit more, it may have prevented this from happening). She was struck by the creature before you were able to finish it off. Kasey became infected, and you had no choice but to try to kill her. The problem is, from where we taught Kasey how to play dead earlier in the game as a survival strategy, her zombie self also knew how to play dead. So our character was trying to fight off his close friend, thinking she died, walking away only to find her climbing on the walls again trying to sneak attack and try to kill or protagonist. This went on for a long time. Even cutting off limbs didn't help. She would play dead and then suddenly be back at it again. We were trying to fend her off in the basement at one point when two other members of our survivalist party came rushing down the stairs. One wrong move later, and Kasey's zombie had killed us. Game over. Idk my friends and I were playing this game like "this is so good!" And I don't really play first person shooters or zombie games (let alone games in general) but we were all SUPER into this game and now I kind of wish it were real I liked it so much. I think the plot is really interesting and really want to try again, focusing on Kasey's shooting skills now instead of those survivalist skills later and see what happens.
