I was at this Bed and Breakfast that was all decorated up as if it were like a HufflePuff dorm or whatever, and very themed in all the lobby, dining room, halls etc. There’s also a giant movie theater type room and we’re all there for the special event which is a screening of the new Fantastic Beasts—which was neither Where to Find Them or Crimes of Grindewald. It was one that apparently took place between the two, and I had entirely missed when it came out so now I’m like FRICK YES LETS GO. We’re just a minute or two late so we’re quietly trying to find seats. We get some up towards the front and I’m so excited to watch this movie but the person next to me will not stop talking. In the movie, Newt is being questioned by police type people about all these creatures they keep finding and they’re just ready to kill them all and he’s like “no! That’s a Boondle Noof! And that’s a Gliafrump!” And all these funky names and the cops are just “what are you even saying those aren’t even words” and Newt is all “well I discovered them so I get to name them”. The best part was that in the movie they always called him Nert Schlamandar because they couldn’t pronounce his name. Anyway, this person next to me is STILL talking every two seconds and it’s so obnoxious so finally I stand up and scream “NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR STUPID TWELVE YEAR OLD KID WHO IS GRADUATING MIDDLE SCHOOL SHUUUUUT UPPPPPP!” The other movie goers were appreciative as we’d all been wanting to say it, but the staff people weren’t so pleased. They told me and the other lady we both had to leave. I was like , whatever, I couldn’t pay attention to it anyway so I needed to restart it to really watch it. So I head out of the theater room to the outside and now the street looks so different than I remembered it being. It straight up feels like I’m in some weird version of Hogwarts. I hear yelling and see that there are all these people dressed like Harry, and McGonagall, and Luna, etc. I’m like “waaait is this a live action fanfic?! Bruh” so I get a bit closer trying to see the kid who is Harry, since he’s talking, and then these two girls next to me who are all dressed in Gryffindor robes, looking like they just got puked out by Hot Topic, start fangirl screeching. They’re like “oh my gaaaaa it’s Harry!!! Harry!!! You’re not in my ships but I love youuuuu!” and “I know you’re not a main character Harry but you’re awesome!!” Meanwhile I’m going “what on earth” cause like, how can harry not be a main character what even is this. I keep watching and then I realize that Harry has bleached hair, but it’s yellow-ish as though it’s def not normally like that. I’m going “Why he trying to look like Draco. Where even is Draco?” Harry is also really weirdly skinny and wears like band tees and leather bracelets and has crazy acne. I see that he is in fact Daniel Radcliffe, but man, he just looks so different. He also has some sort of speech impediment where he like can’t move his upper lip or something so everything he says sounds really oddly accented. The girls next to me are still talking to each other so I listen in to find out what all this is. I find out that this is some sort of AU where Harry lived with McGonnaggal rather than the Dursleys, and he also apparently had this older sister named Isabell who wound up joining the death eaters and turning on him. Voldemort, however had been long since dealt with, and Harry was now just helping clean up little uprisings of evilish people but the story wasn’t even about him, but instead Draco was the main character/hero but just wasn’t in this scene. I kept watching, because even though it was really weird it was intriguing and Harry was really good at magic and he was taking down all these people and then he had to kill his own sister because she’d betrayed him with the help of their uncle and was trying to help the evil people kill dumbledore or something and everyone was so shocked that Harry was able to kill her without hesitation. Afterwards, we all applauded furiously and then the actors walked around the streets a bit for a meet and greet and I had to run and go tell Daniel Radcliffe how amazing his acting was. I told him I was in awe of how in character he was, and how he could be playing the same character, Harry, and yet the two characters felt so unique and different that I wouldn’t have ever realized they were played by the same person, and he was so touched he almost started crying. I still couldn’t figure out why his hair was bleached it just felt so wrong.
