This is a dream I had about a year ago. The nation went into war. A violent, gruesome, and deadly war. (Reasons for war unknown). People’s homes were destroyed leaving nothing but ruins and ash as they desperately set up camps while they tried to rebuild cities. People became divided into two groups: one group of war survivors who were functioning well in a post-war society (these people mostly consisted of teenagers and young adults) and another group who were so traumatized by the war, they fell into a state of denial and had to live in special houses. This group known as the “Special Ones” consisted primarily of families with young children. The Special Ones lived in gated communities in dollhouse-looking homes, lived ideal American lives, and dressed in 1950’s style clothing. They were made to believe everything was okay, and that a war never happened. Basically, people who were so traumatized they had to be isolated from normal society. However, they believed the well-adapted societal members were the enemy, and were horrible people who tried to inflict malice upon them. As the normal folk walked by the Special Ones’ houses, the Special Ones eerily stared at the normal people. The two groups could not interact, and if someone mentioned anything about a war to the Special Ones, the Special Ones would lose their shit and instantly become violent, murderous people. The Special Ones were fucking creepy. They all had plastered smiles and acted like a cult. I remember in the dream my group and I were sent into the Special Ones’ community to investigate. We had to disguise ourselves as one of them and pretend we were all dandy and happy. We couldn’t show any signs of distress because it would reveal ourselves to the Special Ones because they would go insane and try to kill us. I don’t remember how the investigation went. My group and I walked past another small gated community that was used to treat the Special Ones who went insane; it was basically an insane asylum. Walking past it was horrifying, you can hear the screams and threats of the sick. I wish I remembered more of the plot, but sadly this is all I could muster up. This one stood out to me a lot. Kind of reminds me of George Orwell’s 1984.
