On the streets

The first part of the dream I remember is heading somewhere with my dad and several other family members. I’m driving at one point but it’s more like a small boat or raft than it is a car. At some point it gets destroyed somehow and we get separated. I wind up with my sister and cousin and we’re traveling on foot along some railroad tracks. The tracks are in the middle of a huge highway with at least four lanes on either side, but there’s very little traffic. We first wind up going to a gas station, which has all its lights on but no one inside. We go inside and discover a home inside the convenience store, including several guest beds, a living room and a master bedroom. We spend the night there and sleep in the master bedroom. The next night we become more desperate and go to a house to sleep in and charge our phones. It seems as if nobody is home, and we once again sleep in a bedroom. When we wake up and exit the bedroom, we notice a family is also in the house. I approach the dad to apologize for staying in the house, but he doesn’t notice me, even when I shout out to him. Finally he sees me after I shout multiple times and I explain our situation to him and apologize for staying in his house. He doesn’t seem to mind but his wife is upset and immediately kicks us out. The next night we go to a gas station again, it looks almost identical to the other one with the same setup inside. This time we run into a lady who looks half human, half spider. She shows us some mythical creatures she’s raised and gives us the ability to do so as well. Suddenly I’m at school and some people attack in the classroom. Several other students and I fight back with magic, rpg-style. At one point a monster attacks and I use my newfound power to tame it. The dream finally draws to a close as I tell my mom about our adventures. She seems pretty unfazed by it, even though we were gone for days. Even in the dream I find this strange.
