It was an unprecedented storm... torrential rain and flooding... somehow after the rain stopped, the flooding was still rampant and out of control. My boyfriend, Joe, and I were going to pick up Chinese food from a place that we frequented. Joe invited his old friend Tyler, who he hadn't seen in a very long time, and who I had never met before. I got there before Joe got there, and Tyler was already there. He was tall, skinny, pale white, and had short dark blonde hair. The restaurant was in a two-story multi-family home. Upstairs they would take orders, and the kitchen was back there, and downstairs was a dining area. We went upstairs to check in. When we opened the door, the whole room was filled with rushing water almost all the way up to the counter that a man was standing behind. While Tyler and I were ordering, a side door to the kitchen opened and a woman started talking to the man behind the counter about an issue they were having in the kitchen. I saw that the whole kitchen was also filled with about chest-high rushing water. After we placed our orders, Tyler and I went downstairs to the dining area which was a bit of a mess-- everything was wet, there was litter all over the floor, like stuck soaked loose papers, leaves, and dirt. Joe hadn't been able to get there yet. We got our food and started eating and making small talk. I didn’t think anything of him. When we were finishing up, Joe texted me that he was just getting there. I told this to Tyler and said we should meet him outside. He told me to wait a moment and that he had to take care of something quick, and left for a couple minutes. When he returned we gathered ourselves and left. I lead the way out. In the doorway to outside, there was a small note on the floor. I picked it up. The message read that there was a bomb in this building that would explode momentarily, and that everybody needed to evacuate immediately or get killed in the resulting explosion. I started to panic. I wanted to go upstairs and tell the person at the counter so that they could coordinate everyone getting out. When we got outside, I noticed Joe had just gone in upstairs to place his order. I yelled for him to come outside now and to get out. He didn't. I ran up the stairs and opened the door, finally seeing each other, and told him that he needed to get out right now or we would be killed. He said he was placing his order. I repeated that we had to leave. Finally he reluctantly agreed to leave with us, and we all ran far away. I realized once we were a few blocks away that I had had a dream YEARS ago of that moment, and that Joe was reluctant to leave because he was placing his order, and when the explosion happened, one of his arms got completely mutilated. I reminded Joe of this dream and how traumatizing it was. Joe seemed to slightly remember. He said, "Oh shit, yeah." I had had a premonition of this day. That was huge to me. It was now the middle of the night and we all decided to go separate ways. Joe went home to knock out. Tyler left. I wasn't sure how to get home. I was lost. I started wandering around Bridgeport. There were always a lot of people out, no matter what time of night. I thought I had the right way home but eventually got even more lost. I walked by a group of people and noticed Tyler was with them. He was wearing a different outfit; he was now wearing a traditional African-looking shirt. I thought it was odd. He was in Africa for the last few years though, that's why Joe hadn't seen him in so long. I approached him and we decided to wander around together. We got to know each other a little bit more, beyond the small talk from the restaurant while we had been waiting for Joe. I liked him. I thought he was nice, cool, and interesting. Eventually we got back to his place. He wanted to bring me inside to show me something quick. Once I got inside, he pulled me close to him and kissed me. I was surprised for a few seconds but after that we backed away from each other. My view of him instantly switched from cool nice guy to creepy guy that I needed to get away from. I said I was going home, and left to start wandering the city again. I encountered Tyler outside once more, he was now in a third outfit, another traditional African shirt, and now he had a chunky ivory necklace, and chunky ivory clip-on earrings. I tried to ask him for directions or any explanation as to how I could get home. He calmly told me that I wasn't going home, that I would be spending the rest of the day with him, and that I wasn't going to talk to Joe anymore. I was obviously appalled, and he saw this and knew that would be my reaction, so he then told me that he has video footage of us kissing. He would show it to Joe if I try to leave Tyler's company. I still was shocked, but he continued, he said that if I do anything he doesn't approve of, that he would find Joe and kill him with a homemade bomb. I thought of Joe who was still most likely sound asleep at home not knowing that any of this was taking place. Then I put together that Tyler was the one who provided the bomb threat at the Chinese restaurant earlier. I remembered that when I said we had to leave, it prompted him to step outside for a minute. He was the one who left the note. I stayed with him due to the blackmail and threats. He basically brought me around various places in the city, not really doing anything in particular. The thing was, he was implying to everyone that we were together in a long-term relationship. My friend Kenzie was driving down the street and saw us together. It caused her to stop her car, get out, and approach us to ask me what the hell I thought I was doing, and whatever happened to Joe. Tyler got preoccupied with something so I was able to have a private conversation with her. I explained what happened. She told me I should just get home, block him, and lock all my doors and windows and hide out for as long as I could. I told her that if I did that, he would hurt Joe. She told me that I should run to Joe's house instead, block him, and lock us both in. I considered this and then when Tyler wasn't looking, ran for Joe's house. It was now months later, and I was leaving a store with Joe. We got into my car, though he was in the driver's seat and I was on the passenger side. Someone was walking towards the car, once they got close I saw it was Tyler. He walked up to Joe's window. We both knew what kind of person he was now. We also knew, or at least hoped, that Tyler's threats, at least for bombing and killing, were empty threats. After I had left him, nothing seemed to happen to me or Joe. We also had found out the Chinese restaurant never blew up either. Joe rolled down the window just a couple inches. Tyler began a conversation like they were old best friends, "Hey man, haven't seen you in forever. How have you been?" "I've been good man, what about you?" "I've been good... we should do something sometime, catch up and hang out," Tyler suggested. "Been a while." Joe answered, "Yeah man, we really should." "Will you hit me up sometime?" Tyler asked. "Yeah dude, I gotchu," Joe said. Tyler seemed satisfied with this and walked away. Joe and I breathed a sigh of relief.
