In My Brother's Car With Some Thieves

I was in my brother's car and this pair of thieves got in the front. The thief in the driving seat started the car. I reached for the gearstick from the back passenger seat and set the car in reverse. However, the thief who was driving quickly put it back into gear. The other thief in the front passenger seat drew out a gun and threatened to shoot me if I tried something like that again.
