Ok so my dream started off with this asian family getting arrested for using a rice cooker too much and not being able to pay the energy bill. In the dream I knew it wasn’t the family’s fault that they were getting locked away, but there wasn’t much I could do. But for some reason, I was asked to interview the family. Something I should mention first is that they weren’t locked in a prison. They were in sort of an internment camp, not out in the desert, but in a forest/jungle/swamp area. And the camp wasn’t on level ground, but in a dug in area that you access by walking down a bit of stairs. Kind of like a dug in valley. Anyway, I was asked to interview the family. I mostly interviewed the kids, who talked about how scared they were and how unfair this is. They thought it was unnecessary to lock up not only their but a few other family’s only for not being able to pay the rice cooker bill. They weren’t criminals or dangerous. But there were people armed with guns that watched the facility. I then went to a sectioned off area. In this hallway was a couple of doors, each guarded by two armed soldiers. There was a family that resisted arrest and resisted coming to this strange place, and because of their resistance, each family member is locked up separately. Even the baby has it’s own room separated from it’s parents. They are only brought out of their rooms at lunchtime, and even then the guards stand on each side of each person, so they can’t have any physical contact. After seeing all this, I was so unnerved... why is this happening? This is racist and cruel.. why isn’t anyone pointing this out? Why does this system even exist? Why isn’t the media saying something? What happened to the government not wanting “cruel and unusual punishment”? When I woke up, I remembered Japanese interment camps existed. They weren’t exactly like this, but damn, I am not proud of that time in America’s history.
