except she won’t, not everything and it’s not for lack of trying but there are some things a mother’s love cannot fix even her embrace cannot shield against a fiery end and you, you would rather charge into a flaming fate on your own, no sword in hand, surrendering than take up arms for me when I need you when I have no other defense you’d rather leave me with these nameless children, who now I will protect, with my sword and with my whole heart and all the while wonder what became of you, Father, on that sun-baked voyage across crumbling roads and a burning country
