My dad passed away a few months ago and I kept having nightmares about living my life without him. Usually I either cry in my dream or I would wake up and cry. But something was different this time. We are in my old house. We are sitting on my bed staring at him. We are super excited to meet him and talk to him. He is not transparent or translucent or glowing or different. He looks just the same. I give him a hug and I say "So dad, you came back! I knew you would." He says "Yeah. Its good to see you both." We have lot of things to say to him. After a while, I am reading a book and my dad is reading a newspaper like always. My mum enters the room. She stops flat, suspicion arising as her gaze narrows on our excited faces. She has not seen us so happy in a long time. Only my sis and I can see him. She looks past my dad and asks "What's the matter with you two?" We try to hide our excitement and say nothing. She leaves the room and I turn to my dad and say "She couldn't see you? It's really sad that she couldn't." My dad says "Yeah. That is the first rule of being a ghost. Only our kids can see us, not our partners/spouses."
