I could not save him

I was in a city and I was not myself, but my neighbors and I were all very close we would get together and do our laundry while the children were playing. When one of the little girls ran up to us hysterical because her friends were being abducted. We all ran over to where they were playing. And saw a black figure luring the children away. I yelled at him and he saw us all. He stopped luring the children and disappeared into the bushes. All of the children were accounted for except one. I followed the mother back to her apartment. I told the children to stay back but they wouldn't listen. I knew what we would find but I could not change it this time. I could not turn this story into a happy one. As we got closer I turned the children away as to shield them from what I knew was in there. All I heard was the mother just start crying . I looked in and there was the mother with her small curly haired son in her arms crying. I couldn't stop looking at the mess trying to piece together what has happened. One thing I knew for sure was this boy was scared.
