Fort Worth

I am at the waterfront, talking with an inventor. He has a new app for the phone to record conversations with his puppets. I’m friendly, but it’s not something I have any need of. There is some excitement behind the building and we rush to see a submarine right at the edge of the water. There is a landing party. Another boat tips over. I find this funny, but realize that it’s intentional. I go with my father to a convention for sailors. It’s not as exciting as I hoped, mostly selling crystals that cure seasickness and DVDs to watch on long trips. I lose my walking cane. Behind some tents there is sea monster the size of a car but flatter, like a salamander. It runs past me. I’ve lost track of my father and can’t find his number in my phone I talk to some vendors in a dark tent. They tell me that the creature is from the lost city of Fort Worth. Now I am on a bus traveling through Fort Worth. The city is not part of any state, but wanders along the eastern seaboard. There are vast monsters in the rivers, black with orange splotches. The city is crumbling. I don’t know if I’ll escape. I switch seats and talk with other travellers. I wake up.
