My friend got a bird

We were having a bunch of people over at my house and one of them was a friend of mine. Turns out she had just recently gotten a parakeet and she brought it over to show me since I have one too. It was green with a yellow face and it had little pink hearts around its nostrils. We went upstairs to show the bird to my mom, who was in the bathroom doing her hair. By the time we got to her the bird had turned white with blue patches, which is what my parakeet looks like. It also became super fluffy to the point where it was just a little ball of feathers. My mom thought it was absolutely adorable and we went on our way. For some reason we thought it wanted to take a bath so we turned the water on in a sink and just kinda put the bird under the faucet. Suddenly it just shriveled up like a paper towel and dissolved into a small lump. I panicked and grabbed it before it got small enough to fit down the drain, but at that point it was just a little white lump with vaguely bird-like features. We weren’t sure what to do at that point so we just decided to wait and see if it would get better on it’s own. Over time the bird slowly grew back to its normal size, but it had changed from white to brown and red and it seemed to have a bit of trouble moving its legs properly. I felt horrible but it seemed like it was somehow okay in the end so that made me feel a little better.
