There is this company called VIP Kid where you can teach English to kids in China. In the dream, the kids were in America and the classes took place in person. The class started at 6:30 am, but I had to be there early so I could prepare and know what was going on. This is what my cousin's wife said who is the one who works for the company and told me about it in real life. In the dream she said there were going to be lots of metaphors in the stories, and it was important I was there to understand what they were. I ended up being late though. I put on an orange shirt, the company color, and dress pants and shoes at like 6 am and got to the place at like 6:12, but it wasn't just a classroom. I had to walk through a department store. I ended up being late because I got distracted by the clothes. There were fancy like prom dresses. I also saw some other cute non prom clothes like this white romper with designs on it. I touched it, tugging on it, only to realize that the romper was on this girl I went to high school with. I was a little embarrassed. I also saw my childhood friend who apparently was married (she's engaged irl) to this guy who was in a band who started performing right there in the middle of the store. I got distracted by that. Also my friend said something about how she had almost everything she wanted in life, but she still had more to do. I also ran into my friend's mom, and I think this was after there was like a repeat of me getting dressed at home except I put my dress shoes on over pink socks, but they were ankle socks so you couldn't really see them under the shoes. I was running late again, leaving at exactly 6:30, and getting there at 6:38. I felt so irresponsible and embarrassed, not wanting to walk in late after I'd been told not to be late. But my friend's mom started talking to me. Surrounding us were the prom dresses, and my friend had a lavender dress on. Her mom asked me if I was going to prom. I was now focused on getting to where I needed to go and didn't really answer her, but distractedly said, "I don't think so." After what felt like a half hour went by, I said I had to go. I was a half hour late, arriving in this brightly lit classroom with at least two kids to a table. They were in this like competition where they had to guess what a story was about looking at pictures and words. They just moved onto a new one as I sat down next to this kid who wasn't even Asian, and he spoke a little English. He was mixed African American and Caucasian. He took notice of me, so I was his teacher. I thought he had to try to read it by himself as I just observed, but then I heard my cousin's wife a table over reading to her student. So I did the same. I can't remember the first one, but I remember I and he both heard the other kid's answer because my student just repeated it. The second one had a picture of like six oranges and two or three of them had some circle mark on them, like a wart. I heard the kid my cousin's wife was working with say those oranges were poisoned. I didn't finish this one with my student because I knew he wasn't thinking, but instead just copying what the other kid said, although I'd tried reading this one to him, and explaining it to him. It wasn't even like an ESL class. I wasn't speaking slowly like I would for an ESL lesson. The last part I remember is walking over to this blond kid who was sitting on this incline that looked like it was from a gymnastics setup. It was colorful. I introduced myself to him as Teacher Sarah, which I would call myself as a VIP Kid teacher.
