rodents vs. snakes

there was a circle of bricks not unlike the old firepit now gardenbed in my backyard. there were snakes in the circle and they seemed tame. some other person or persons arrived but i dont remember what they looked like or even what gender they were. so they were a neutral entity but they released these tiny rodents into the circle - some sort of chipmunk or mouse or hamster or something. the rodents killed the snakes by touching them or possibly biting them. (i could not tell.)
