Sounds

I am sitting on my bedroom floor of my old house under my loft bed. The floor is covered completely in pillows and blankets, so much so that the carpet underneath is no longer visible. The room is lit but just not enough, like there is light filtering through my closed blinds but the room is a little dim. I am sitting there when I hear this sound coming from the hallway outside my room. It is almost indescribable, like a mix between a human scream, a human moan, and a zombie growl. Whatever the noise is, it’s disturbing. Instantly I’m terrified, and like a classic horror movie protagonist I call out, “Gia? Is-Is that you?” (Gia is my current dog, but she was not my dog when I lived in that house). It is definitely not Gia. The sound gets closer and I see movement under the doorway; shadows moving. I call out again, “Gia? Are you ok?” The moaning is louder. Something catches my eye and I turn to my left. Gia is cowering in the corner of my room shaking. I am even more scared, even though deep down I knew the thing outside wasn’t just a dog. I hear banging on my door. I wake up.
