A large group was gathered around my 2 friends Steven Lavalley and Carl Stanley "Quatro" Ham. This was a frenzied affair as the audience was in a chaotic state shouting and carrying on. It was as if they were watching 2 gladiators. Steven was lying on the ground on his back with his knees bent and Quatro would run from a short distance ( maybe 10-15 feet) and then jump incredibly high in the air maniacally and come down with a punch to Stevens stomach which would incite the applause of the crowd. Quatro was jumping much higher than any normal person could. I was taken aback by this spectacle and was simply watching but not joining in on the cheers. Eventually after a few punches I realized that I had to go to class. Class started at 1240 and it was 1245. My professor had previously stated never to be late to his class so anxiety struck me. I leaned in to Steven, who was still on the ground, and told him I had to head out. He had a wry smile on his face and acknowledged that i had to leave. At this point I began to head to class. Many things were on my mind. Where's my homework? What will I tell my professor? Will Steven be ok? Will my professor kick me out of his class? Then this numbness came over my left leg as continued my walk. It wasn't painful, but almost as if my leg had fallen asleep. Someone saw that I was struggling to walk and offered their assistance. A bit of relief came over me as I now planned to use this as an excuse as to why I was late. My new friend could corroborate my alibi that my temporary leg paralysis was the reason for my tardiness.
