the train

i was on the subway - the 456 - and i made a stop where i went downstairs and asked a man in a reflective workman's jacket about something and went up to get back on the train. i got off for a transfer but got confused about where i was. in my mind i followed the train i planned to get on and it went so far out into nowhere that it led to a snowy mountain area. i was both afraid and thought i wished it wasn't night so i could go out there. in my mind i walked snowy mountain paths which i saw had bike tracks. i wondered who was biking so late in the snow. i returned to my body and went into the nearest building which led into a basement. there were three young women in the basement working. they were laughing and i joined in their conversation. i couldn't recognize what kind of business it was and we all laughed when i said "i think i recognize that form" which was a generic sign in sheet. i asked for directions but in asking realized i didn't know where i was going. we all laughed at how ridiculous that was. i said i wanted to go to a big store like macy's but obviously not macy's because i wasn't anywhere near there. i asked to see a subway map and they showed me nyc but with an unknown subway map over it. i said this isn't it! a customer came and i backed out of the way and started to feel more afraid since i couldn't remember. they stood in the corner with me and started talking about a party. i told them i wanted to go to party city to get my halloween costume. they said i could take the n either way. and i got confused because i said the train doesn't loop around in a circle.
