**Rape & abuse trigger warning.** My name was Allison. My best friend was Jessica and she'd narrowly escaped from a psychopath named Milo Rendgrave. She thought she'd killed him. That he was dead and that she could move on. Milo somehow survived and a year later he kidnapped me. He beat me and raped me for some of that time. At other points he pretended to be sweet and loving. Jessica got some of her friends together and they rescued me. A couple months later and we're getting cryptic messages and whatnot from him in letters and emails that sadly couldn't be traced. A couple mercenaries had even been sent after us but to no avail. We'd barely managed to stop them. Finally Milo took it on himself to show up. He through Jessica to the ground and pointed a gun at her. He told me that if I go back with him he won't hurt anyone else. Sirens were heard and he glared in their direction. He told me I had three days to get to him before he began killing again. Said I'd know where to go. A couple days passed. I'd been driving to where I knew he'd be. Very much against Jessica's advice. When I got there, he wasn't there. His parents were. They said he'd left in the morning. That he had errands to run. My blood ran cold as I went through the house trying to find some clue to where he might have gone. I found nothing. Instead I found lots of death. I'd found the room he had used to beat and rape me. There were a couple dead bodies in there. Fresh ones. I had no clue how his parents could be so calm over this. How they could let him do this. I bolted. Got in my van and drove off. As I drove down the road I noticed a woman staggering across the road to the other side. The closer I got the more I recognized her. She was my friend Cara. I babysat her daughter a few times before this mess happened. I pulled over to try and help her. She was covered in blood. A huge gash on her side. “I answered your call but it wasn't you.” She said when she saw my face. “No. My phone was stolen. We need to get you to a hospital.” I told her, trying to get her to move. “No. He'll be back soon. He likes you. Said so.” She continued, “Said he was getting you a gift. I was the distraction.” I gulped and tried to get her to get into the van. “please. We need to hurry.” She smiled and sat down on the grass. Her body starting to go limp, “Get my little girl to safety.” That was the last she said. She died there. I took her phone, dialed 911 on it, put it back in her pocket, and drove off. I didn't know what else to do. I was in a panic. A few days passed. I was in a police station. They were questioning me and I was doing what I could to answer. They had gone to the places I'd mentioned and found the bodies. Only… there were more than I'd originally known. They'd found Jessica's head on a table with a gift bow on the top. After more questions they'd told me Cara's daughter had been placed in the care of her father and step-mother. The family had been relocated to safety. I was thankful for that. They never found Milo. His pictures had been put up all over and they'd done all they could but never found him. Even traced my old phone which had apparently been tossed at some point. He must've known I'd try. A few more months went by. I'd been put through witness protection. I had managed to make a total of two new friends. I didn't like the idea of it but they made me feel normal. One of them, Derek, was also a publisher. He and I worked together and got my story out there. I worked it out with some people and managed to get 10% of my portion wired directly to the account Cara had made for her little girl's college fund. I felt responsible for her and wanted to help, if only a little. In all that time Milo still had never been found. I thought maybe he'd finally decided to be done with me. That thought was dashed quick when I got a call on my new cell from an unknown number. I stupidly answered it and heard his voice, “Hello Allison. Ready for a new game?” I awoke after that.
