At an indeterminate point in the future, natural disasters of shocking magnitude have become common. A particularly strong earthquake hits North America, doing considerable damage to missile and land force defense systems in America. This opens the now conjoined Canada and US to missile bombardment and invasion. After a devastating Nuclear exchange between a broken US and desperate Russia, my dream follows a small military family. A young woman living in upstate New York, her older brother the General, and her father, a private military consultant and strategist. Pakistan, a radicalized islamic state, invades U.S. soil, and a bloody ground war ensues. The father can only watch as the coast is bombarded and folded, his son winning countless battles, but the military still losing the war. All hope seems lost when the US decides to simply nuke itself, wiping out Pakistani forces and remaining civilians. We watch the brother show up and save the sister from an impending strike, and they all meet at their Father's house. The brother, due to radiation, weather conditions, and exhaustion, is experiencing organ failure. He is dying. They all sit on the porch one last time, the woman, the brother, and her father. They catch up, and talk about the war, and how the world may have been different at one point, but it would always be this way. The brother drifts off, gently and painlessly, as America smolders and the world turns on. Then my dream ended.
