Real life d&d

There was a group of people who were playing sort of real life d&d and I was the dungeon master. They walked up to the front door of this fortress and I had a trap laid there. It was a catapult that looked exactly like a large version of the foot thing that pops out from a recliner chair. It flung out and threw them up in the air, and I had to roll dice to see how high they went. Turns out they were thrown 60 feet.
