Frog, turtle, leech

I was at someone's pool and we found a baby turtle and little green frog swimming in the pool. We decided to rescue them and we put the frog ins. Large plastic with the lid off however the frog was drowning so I ran and put it back in the pool but it was already dead. But then I found the baby turtle and he was safe and swimming in the pool. Then I walked around the corner and I had a white leech stuck on me ducking my blood. I tried to pull it off but it's head was still sucking. I finally got it off and it stuck to my other arm so I told my uncle and he said "yeah leeches love me that's why they're around". WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?!
