Pokémon mmo

I was in Gameboy / DS Type of environment playing Pokémon. I somewhat could also see myself outside the game playing it but for the most part I was talking through the animated character. All I remember is giving my cousin Jr advice on how to get past this part where you could get to another region in the sky through a giant elevator. However, when we got there after fighting our way there through some tall grass in the dark we arrived to see professor Oak looking at us then laughing as he took the elevator up so that that world up there could no longer be accessible.
