Snake bites

For some reason I was in a area behind a building with my family. We were running and escaping from something. We had to run through this pit of snakes and luckily I dodged their strikes, but the second time we went though them they kept biting me. I didn't know if they were venomous or not so my dad told me to just suck the wounds and see. I told him I had read it was bad to suck the wounds, but he raged and told me to anyways
