Can't remember my own language

I am Italian but have been living abroad for a while now. I was with some people in Italy, possibly with some acquaintances that I haven't talked to for more than two seconds in real life. I was trying to explain something and in the dream I was aware that I had to unnaturally translate what I was thinking into Italian but I couldn't find the words in my language, when at last I utter the most pretentious sentence ever, or rather the sentence most people find very pretentious but every person that lives abroad knows to be true "sorry at this time I can't think of a way to say that in Italian". I see some people roll their eyes. I don't care.
