Suicide Prevention Failure

I remember I was riding in a car with my father, which seems strange now, as I can’t stand him in reality. We came across this teenage girl who had set out to kill herself that day. How we knew that by looking at her, I suppose is just because I was dreaming. Anyway, we tried to take her into the car use various tactics we could think of to stop her. These tactics all revolved around something physical, such as removing her from any potential dangers. Eventually, as we realized nothing we did was working, as a strange car drove by our own, she jumped from ours to it. I told her she didn’t have to be with us, but she was always welcome back. The other vehicle sped away with her inside. That’s when we saw the ‘Suicide Support’ text on its side. We frantically gave chase to the car, but in the end, it ran itself into an oncoming train, killing all inside. In retrospect I feel forcing her was a poor idea. From my experience, I never liked force and it never seemed to help. I think talking to her, possibly about my own past, could have changed her mind. That’s the key. You need to have people change their minds on their own. You can’t force them.
