In a classic example of how pre sleep activity can influence dreams, I was watching videos by Limmy (Scottish comedian / gamer / Internet media celebrity) play Euro Truck Simulator and Grand Theft Auto V. They are quite funny if you are into cartoon violence like me (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXpzDgtkmAM). I blame my parents for letting me watch all those Tom & Jerry cartoons as a child. Anyway in the dream Limmy is talking directly to me as I go on a killing spree. I don't think it is real as all the action takes place in a purple wooden frame and Limmy is at the top right of the "screen" talking to me. He makes reference to "hand-crankers". I don't know if that is an actual gaming term or I really did make that one up. As a child I believed that I had invented the word "HiFi" (as in "see that thing mum and dad listen to music on? I call that a HiFi") because I dreamt it. So I am not taking credit for hand-crankers just yet just in case it is common parlance in the gamer geek community. Anyway a "hand-cranker" is not a proper gamer. It is someone who buys games like GTA V or FIFA 20 and want to be able to play it immediately. You know these millennial idiots who invented the instant gratification culture. Like they see something on TV or whatever and think it is going to improve their life and want it now instead of actually researching and saving, get the credit card out and Mr Amazon will have that winging its way to me in the click of a button. Rant over. But back to my original point, thats what a hand-cranker is in gaming. They don't want to learn the different game modes and take time in learning how to get full use out of all the game modes. Just give me that control so I can start killing people. I am going to ask the younger guys from the office today if "hand-cranking" is a thing.
