I saw an email I got from a ticket sales website or music promotion website about an upcoming Taylor Swift concert. I didn't think much of it. Later on I got another email from a woman who either worked for the venue or for Taylor Swift and she said Taylor won't be able to perform that night. She was wondering if my band and I could take her place and perform some of her hits. Of course I thought this was a very sketchy request but something about it seemed legitimate, and I thought that even if it didn't work out the way I thought, no harm would be done. So I told my band and on the day of, we were psyching ourselves up to go. I remember that we had to be there at 7:30 PM, and for some reason I kept thinking it was almost 7. I was begging everyone to leave so we could get there on time, I was panicking. We finally left and then I realized it was only like 2 PM. So we set up and got ready and the time finally came. It was a HUGE packed stadium. I got in front of the mic and explained that Taylor Swift wouldn't be there but that we would be performing instead. Everyone in the audience was furious. I assumed that once they heard that we were performing the same songs, they wouldn't really care. So we did one song and then took a break. My bandmates would disperse after every song while I tried to think of what next song to do. My issue was that I only knew a couple Taylor Swift songs well enough to sing them from beginning to end. There were other songs I had heard but I didn't know every word and I kept thinking, even if I held up my phone to look at the lyrics, I wouldn't get them right, because I wouldn't know like the tempo or the tone that she sings them. So after a few songs it got to a point where there was about a half hour or longer break where I was standing there wondering what to do, trying to brainstorm, going through my phone, and just panicking thinking about how much time is passing by with just no music.
