Is this a video game?

It begins with myself transferring to another place - dimension - through some kind of portal. To get home; or whatever; you speak it's name. When I completed the 3rd or 4th world, (I'm guessing the world I went too - Not the 3rd/4th - but the 4th/5th, it was either some kind of game or a way to build up?) I encountered a man I couldn't defeat. I had to get home before he killed me; I went though the portal and got home. That's when I found out he came back with me. That's when I woke.
