Strange Colleague

I was doing some work on a site. I found something in one of the victims eyes. It was a diamond. I showed it to my colleague who showed great interest. He asks me what I'm gonna do with it. I stare at the ring for a few seconds. It was a small diamond but what else would I do with it? I thought about it and replied to my colleague. I'll do my job, of course. Then he leans in and asks, what is it exactly that we do here. I gave him a weird look and say forensics. He asks me are you sure? I don't know why he's saying these odd things so I ask him why are we here then. He leans back and finishes with saying that's a great question.
