Received life advice

The advice was almost religious, and I remember feeling like I didn’t know the source and it made me uncomfortable... however.. I saw no reason why it had to be bad advice. The advice was basically this - I’m to have three set goals for my entire life. Not tiny ones but life goals or decisions like.... Getting married to a nice girl, going far in my career, etc. The goal is to pick three things and make my entire life about achieving those three goals.
