My ex toxic friend cares about puppies

I was living on a factory with people I have never met before, well minus one person that I had to stop being friends with (for real too). He is toxic, entitled, and it always seemed like he barely understood what anyone was going through, low empathy. He had no mercy with the things he said. I got to know the other people in my dream, we were pretty much roommates. Ended up having sex with one of the girls... weird sex, lots of moving around on a bed with the other people around who didnt care that we were doing it right next to them, we all just talked casually about ourselves. They were funny, they made me laugh a lot. I also talked to my toxic ex friend, he was still an ass, but he wasnt being really bad. We go to the main part of the building eventually where the shit happens. This factory produced dog meat, a few of us wasnt aware of that. You would see the puppies on moving trays passing through something that looked like a metal detector, it worked the same way, but it wasnt beeping for metal. It would beep if the meat wasnt good enough to pass. One of the guys said that we cant look at them as dogs and as soon as they pass the detector, they are like cows. I was fine with that. They had long furr and looked like they havnt been groomed since they were born, but they were still cute. The others who werent already aware of it looked a bit ucomfortable, but they got over it. Then suddenly my ex toxic friend fell to the floor and started shaking and crying, It really shocked me, but it didnt even take me a second to run over, get on the floor and hug him tightly and comfort him the best I could, rubbing his back. The whole puppy thing was too much for him, he cared so much about them. I could feel the judgement from the others about him crying and It made me really mad, but I shaked it off and focused on being there for him while he cried into my shoulder. I could see he had so much good in him. I woke up feeling like I had to text him to see how he is doing, but I know he isnt actually the person he was in my dreams, so I didnt.
