I am in a second hand bookstore with my parents. It’s converted from a home. Mama pick out a few very intellectual books for herself, and I suggest they’re not appropriate. She and papa are very upset with me. I leave and start crying outside. My hands are completely covered in thick snot. Later, we are at the American hall of independence. We need to lift a pallet of sandbags to the ceiling to preserve democracy. I let mama take the lead in planning, but we don’t get very far. A gang of fascists emerge, but they’re just actors. We manage to build a system of pulleys and lift the sandbags. In previous years, people used a helicopter and a hole in the roof. We are given glowing tickets. I toss one underground and it glows brightly. There is a bust of a Greek goddess stuck in the wall. Further along the wall is a hatch with a rope. We rig up the ropes to pull, and the goddess head cracks to do… something. I don’t remember the point of this now, but it was important at the time. There was more underground. I am in London Ontario, taking a math exam from Laura. I don’t have my cheat sheet for the class, just notes on Roman history. The test makes no sense. One true or false question just reads “The mouth up while food down”. I talk with Laura afterwards, and she sees nothing wrong with the test. I decide to visit my old apartment. In the building I realize I’m dreaming and just declare I have a key for room 401 to save time. The apartment is owned by Peter and Parisa. They have to leave, so I stay by myself. There is a dusty remote control for the TV. A cat and a small person (child?) running around. A messy bedroom with a bathtub next to a window. Outside the window is a rooftop garden, but it’s not theirs. I leave, planning to visit the art gallery. There is more I can’t remember now. A staircase that doesn’t quite connect. The X-Files. A basement.
