Fire Starter

I’m taking a trip to a cabin forest with friends and their family. When we arrive it’s freezing so we start a fire and as I’m working on helping em random things catch fire sort of like the film hereditary. I try extinguishing the flames and trying again and again. But the friends’ family is getting upset and we’re all freezing but we can’t exactly burn to death either. Eventually I figure a way to suspend the flame above a puddle of water and it seems to work? We seem to survive through the night and head back home due to the weather.
