The abandoned dog

In real life, I got a lift home from a party I went to yesterday. Traffic was bad in both directions due to volume and accidents. On our way home, I saw something on the side of the road, brown and beige, and it looked like a doggie! I exclaimed, "Is that a DOG on the side of the road?!" Of course, my friends didn't see it. One was driving and the other was on her smartphone. They both said, "Oh, don't say that!" I don't know what it was, but I immediately thought some asshole threw the dog out of the car and it was in the median, scared for its life, with nowhere to go, and nonstop traffic coming from both directions. Obviously it affected me—— In my dream, I saw a scared and shaking black and brown dog, walking around with a leash dragging behind it, and no human. It was small-to medium-sized. It looked emaciated. I tried to beckon the doggie, but it was distrusting and desperate at the same time. Somehow I got the dog home with me. It stretched out on the floor as my cats watched in curiosity. My heart was breaking, as I was at a loss as to what to do. Dream ends.
