I was on a farm. Somehow it was David's farm again and it was smaller, about 4 large beds, a few large out buildings and some smaller gardens. I looked into the sky and the mountains around me were giving off thick, black smoke. The sky wasn't totally blotted out but it was blocking the sun. I went back inside and said to the folks there that it was looking pretty intense and I asked them if they had a plan. The people in the house were like David, a few adult kids, possibly his wife and maybe a worker or two. They all seemed very non chalant about the fire. It was going to be fine they said and they resented that I brought it up. Later on the barn directly behind us was on fire and it was about 4-5 feet away from the main farm house. The embers from it were blue and lining the space between the house and the barn. I brought up my concern again and it was the same response, "that's not our barn/nothing to worry about". I went outside and I layed in the grass, a black cow came running out of the barn that was on fire and right towards me. I was afraid at first dodging to the left to avoid a direct hit! The cow missed me and they I layed in the grass and the cow affectionately came towards me and was nudging my head and begging for snuggles. The cow lay with me in the grass near the burning barn, under the deepening blackened sky. I, again, asked the family what they would do and again they said don't worry about it. Next, I'm sitting on a stoop, close to the farm house, eating some cheese. I see two crows in the distance and I throw a piece of cheese out into the field for them. The bird swoops down to get it and comes right over to me. It lands on my knee and gives me 4 slices of cheese from its beak before accepting my tiny little piece of cheese. I am bewildered by the generosity of this, now, chickadee. I got inside to tell the others about the bird and to care for the wildlife and this time, everyone is anxious and sweating about the fires. They don't have a plan but I can tell they are afraid. Next scene I have left the farm to go to another home in the area, less affected by the fires but they are still present. I walk to the back deck and Chalace is sitting on the dock over the small piece of water. The sky is slightly brighter here. Right after I sit down, Cat comes back to the dock too and sits with us...well lays down. She's wearing brighter colours than I'm used to and seems kind of stand offish. From more of a shame based stance more than anything. We chat, I'm worried she hates me and I feel awkward about seeing her. We all hang out on the deck and the piece of water is getting smaller and smaller until we are inside in a bedroom and the water is a little pond within the room. I keep thinking of going swimming and I never do. A mom of some kind comes in and asks if she can turn up the heat. It's already warm out but I say yes, that'll make it cozy when I get out of the water. The end.
