Jake Paul Creates an Open World App

Warning: This dream I just woke up from was disturbing! So if you are easily frightened, please stop reading. I dreamt I worked in an office building and Jake Paul (the famous YouTuber) pretty much took over the second floor above where I worked, but we never crossed paths—until this day I decided to take the elevator for some reason. I was in the elevator and Jake walked in. I don’t know if he was talking to me or just talking to talk (as we were the only two in the elevator,) but he said that he was about to make a ton of money on this new app. He said that there were a lot of people hating on him, but this thing is going to take off. I really had no idea what the heck he was referring to, so if he was talking to me, I probably looked either confused or disinterested. I was, however interested, so after he exited onto the second floor, I called my friend Draven. He informed me that there were rumors going around YouTube that Jake Paul was launching an app after there had been some problems or delays, but that is all he could really tell me. Apparently the details about the project had been kept pretty hush-hush. I decided to do the unthinkable. I would sneak up to the second floor loft area, which wasn’t that hard. There were influencers constantly hanging out there. I spotted Jake and he looked concerned. There were a few kids sitting around (looked to be in their late teens or early twenties), but Jake was pretty much off by himself pacing. Then his phone rings. It was the young programmer he had hired to create the app. He couldn’t have been more than 20 years old, programming what could become the top-rated app of all time! I choose a spot on an ugly pea-green couch, close enough that I could eavesdrop on their conversation. I could hear the young programmer say that the launch had been put on hold by the app store, because there were some vulnerabilities or security issues with a piece of the coding. He assured Jake that he was fixing the problem and they should still be able to launch within the next hour. Jake hangs up the call and falling back into the wall, sinks to the floor. By this time a couple little kids (maybe 7 or 8 years old) were playing behind the ugly green couch where I was sitting. Someone turned the mounted TV on the wall to some 24-hour business news channel and they were talking about the app and how it was about to launch. One talking head speculated that “no one is going to pay that much for a silly app.” The other talking head disagreed. They transition from the two paneled guests to a screenshot of the app store, where it said that the app costs $10! I asked Jake softly, as not to scare him from his distant stare, “Is that ten bucks a month or just a one-time fee?” “Ten bucks a month, but the entertainment that people will get from it will me worth it.” He could tell by the response on my face that I thought that sounded ridiculous. There was a chunky little girl with glasses now sitting on the back of the ugly green couch. Jake came around to the other side of the sofa, sort of behind me. He told me that Samantha had been play-testing the game for a while. He then quietly said, “She has an IQ of about 40.” He wasn’t trying to offend anyone. He was pointing out that she wasn’t like the other kids. I asked a couple questions about the game. Jake would start to describe the game and Samantha would excitedly add to what he was saying, not even looking up from her device. She was enamored by this game. They explained that it was an open world that mirrored the real world. Depending on your physical location, determined where you were in the game, however the names of the towns were not the same. I don’t know if this was for legal purposes or for the user’s safety. As I asked more questions, the little girl slid from the back of the couch onto my leg so that I could watch her screen as she explained the game to me. Jake informed me that there would be two versions of the game. One to keep kids safe and one for adults with less limitations. I watched as the little girl’s avatar interacted with other players in the game (I assumed the game had launched, because there were a few more people than when she had first been playing it,) but she was more interested in showing me the various places in the game, in particular the dog park. I looked back over my shoulder at Jake and said, “I could see myself letting my daughter play this game, but in moderation. Maybe for no more than 20 minutes at a time.” I half-jokingly inquired about how I could invest, because I was now convinced that this is going to be the next big thing and I didn’t want to miss out, but he told me that window had already closed. Only the investors who backed the project early on would be getting a portion of the profits. Samantha got super animated! We arrived at the dog park. There were various dogs running and fetching, but there was one that was her favorite that she wanted me to meet. Just them a bird off to my right caught my attention. I had become immersed in the game! I was no longer sitting on the ugly green couch, but walking and breathing in this virtual world. Behind the bird looked like a changing room that you would see in a department store, but outside in the middle of a mulched flower bed. I was curious so I walked over to it, scaring the little birdie away in the process. I open the door and enter, then closing the door behind me. There was nothing unusual. It was basically an empty box. Suddenly, something slams against the door! I hear what sounds like a big dog growling on the other side! I thought maybe it was the “doggie” that Samantha wanted me to see. I stand on my tippy toes to look over the door, but there was nothing on the other side. No dog. No park. Nothing, but a sea of light brown nothingness for miles. I drop back onto the heels of my feet and still I heard that constant growling sound. I slowly open the changing room door into what was now pitched-black nothingness. I took a few steps and spotted a dimly lit exit sign, leading down the staircase. I recognize that I am back on the second floor of Jake’s pad, but I was the only one up there. I quickly run down the stairway and even the first floor where I worked was in total darkness with the exception of what appeared to be swirling ambulance lights reflecting on the walls. I head towards the exit doors into the lobby where there stood Jake and a few other influencers. “What happened?” I interrupt. Jake was genuinely crying, “Samantha was murdered.” I woke up! To a room full of darkness, from this virtual world that we call “Dreams.” I hope I can go back to sleep.
