This freaked me out very much when I woke up (you will find out why later). I am still a little unsure what happened, but the most probably explanation is that I was experiencing a hyper-realistic dream, which has happened before: It is the middle of the night. I do not remember falling asleep, and at the time I am 100% sure that I am awake. I am on my stomach propped up on my elbows in bed, scrolling through Instagram. I feel thirsty so I set my phone on the headboard of my bed (which is a loft bed, meaning it is a basically a bunk bed without the bottom bunk. Also, it is about a foot and a half away from the wall with a large unoccupied space in between). After I set my phone up there I reach to my right and grab a water bottle to drink. As I am drinking my phone turns off. No big deal, but the room is plunged back into total and complete darkness. I casually finish drinking and set my water back on the side of the loft bed when suddenly I hear a noise. I hear the distinct sound of my phone hitting the carpet 5 feet below me. I remember saying, “Shoot!” I feel the back of my headboard in the darkness right where my phone was and it is gone. I look over the edge of the bed but of course it’s too dark to see if my phone is on the floor. I sigh and decide it isn’t worth it to climb off of my bed just to grab my phone when it’s so late already, so I close my eyes and go to bed. Now, that all felt SO. REAL. If what happens next didn’t happen next I would go on with the rest of my life thinking it was real. But, I wake up the next morning, and I see it. My phone. Sitting next to me in my bed. Right where I always put it before I go to sleep. And it’s plugged in. Obviously I was confused and a little scared, and I still don’t even know what happened, so I’m just going to chalk it up to a dream. I hope it was a dream.
