I was at my old job when police showed up asking about a certain estate file we had. It rang a bell with me and I knew it was an old case from the basement. I went down there with everyone and was looking for the file. We had represented the husband in the case. The police were implying that the husband was under investigation now and that the wife/decedent may have been murdered. I felt so bad for this lady and kept looking for the file for the police. I noticed that all the physical files were gone. I went to speak to the attorney, wondering if all the old files had been scanned in or were moved. He said I can't give the file to the police. I asked why not. He said that if we provide anything to them, it has the potential to hurt our client, and that would violate the attorney client relationship. We weren't able to do anything adverse to him.
