A high school classmate of mine, named Valeria, portrayed a third grade student at the school I worked at. She was notified one night that her father died abruptly and she was extremely upset. However, despite what happened, she still attended school the next day. I was teaching the class music and referred to the whiteboard as I was explaining my concepts and when I looked back at the class, I saw Valeria sitting in a lying down position in her chair. Her feet were straight across in front of her touching the floor and her feet made a 45° angle with the floor. She was sort of lying down in her chair. She seemed to be crying and snot was coming out of her nose. It all dripped down onto her mask. I asked Valeria if she was okay and that if she wasn’t feeling ready to go back to school, she could have stayed home. She told me that she wanted to come to school anyway, even though whatever happened with her father last night. After school, I was walking home and all of a sudden I was in Berkeley Heights. I was walking on the sidewalk on hilly terrain and I realized that I left my purse on a rack that was in front of a cul de sac. I called my mom to tell her about the crazy day I had and we talked for the entire walk. As I walked back up the hill, I passed by the cul de sac again and my purse and belongings were still on the rack. I picked up my things and walked home.
