A group of adults and kids are on the beach at nightfall. We send our kids to run off to different parts of the beach with their torches to watch the shooting star that is supposed to come by tonight. It’s rare because tonight’s is likely to impact something on its passing and drop something into the ocean. Anyway, I and my son are the only two to spot the shooting star come by and impact something silently in the night. We observe the sky for a few seconds and see a descending plume of grey smoke, large, at the bottom of which is a space rock. It lands with a splash in the ocean. My son rushes to the shoreline to find it... “No!” I say, “wait!”
