Rainy school days

A ceremony had ended and there were 2 college assignments due the next morning that I hadn't started. It was getting later and later and I couldn't start. It was 11:00 pm. It was raining outside and I was going to drive to the library. I saw my friend walking to the library, still wearing a dress. I told her if she could wait on me I would drive her there with me. She told me "I have my own car, if I were wanting to drive there I could drive myself." So I just agreed to meet her there. I couldn't understand why she would want to walk to the library in the rain while wearing a dress. She had a black umbrella, and several other people on the street also had a black umbrella. I drove there feeling like I was missing out on something.
