On the rare but becoming more frequent occasion I've been hallucinating before bed. It's normally detached voices and I let them get on with it. Also a lot of the time I feel movement on the bed. About a year ago I had this awful reoccurrence of seeing spiders that aren't there. There was one time it was a massive locus/praying mantis looking thing in a crumple of my curtain so I grabbed my curtain to see (so I wasn't under sleep paralysis) and this massive bug charged at me and disappeared (I looked around the room plus the UK doesn't have bugs like that). Almost 2 weeks ago I opened my eyes to see a glowing white substance which I could only describe as ectoplasm hovering above my chest. It looked like it was swimming. I got up with a start (so again no paralysis) and studied it for a couple seconds before yelling "wtf is that?" My brother came in so I looked at the door and when I looked back again it was gone. I was laying in bed last night, fully awake not even trying to go to sleep I was just looking out my window. Then all of a sudden this mostly opaque hand grey in colour thin with shortish fingers reached out for me (it was slow but I was still scared it would harm me). As it swung for me it disappeared.

AI generated interpretation It sounds like you have been experiencing a variety of intense and vivid hallucinations during the transition between wakefulness and sleep. These types of hallucinations are commonly known as hypnagogic hallucinations and can occur when falling asleep or waking up. The recurring theme of seeing spiders, bugs, and other strange beings could be symbolic of feelings of fear, anxiety, or vulnerability in your waking life. These images may represent unresolved fears or anxieties that are manifesting in your subconscious during your transition into sleep. The fact that these hallucinations are becoming more frequent could indicate that these underlying emotions are becoming more prominent in your conscious awareness. The glowing white substance hovering above your chest could symbolize a sense of being weighed down by emotional or psychological burdens. The ectoplasmic appearance of the substance swimming could suggest a feeling of being trapped or overwhelmed by unseen forces in your life. Your reaction to yelling “wtf is that?” and the substance disappearing once your brother entered the room could reflect a desire for validation or support in confronting these internal struggles. The appearance of the mostly opaque hand reaching out for you while you were fully awake and not trying to sleep is particularly intriguing. This experience could symbolize a feeling of being haunted or pursued by hidden aspects of yourself or past experiences. The fear you felt at the thought of harm from the hand disappearing may indicate a fear of confronting these subconscious aspects of yourself or unresolved issues. Overall, these vivid hallucinations may be a manifestation of underlying anxieties, fears, or unresolved emotions that are seeking expression in your dreams. It could be beneficial to explore these themes further in order to gain insight into any psychological or emotional challenges you may be facing in your waking life. Consulting with a mental health professional or therapist could provide valuable support in understanding and addressing these experiences.
