I was in college but it functioned more like a high school. Reality was different, destructive, horrible disasters plagued everything along with the existence of magic, though it wasn’t the Harry Potter kind, it was the kind that seemed to be controlled by other-worldly beings that we lived alongside. Kind of like angels and demons without the religious context. I didn’t really see them, but everyone knew and accepted their existence, it contributed to the overall feel of the dream. A looming darkness accompanied everything. I was on a class trip that involved visiting my hometown. I was supposed to be participating in athletic events but kept escaping to go see animals that were being kept in sheds that operated as pet shops. A boy decided to skip with me and we both were concerned over the state of the animals’ living situations. There were baby rats being kept with kittens and lethal jellyfish that were mixed in the same tanks and kept killing each other. The boy, who had dark curly hair and eyes the color of caramel, didn’t say much, but wouldn’t leave my side and I didn’t mind. I felt drawn to him and tried to get him to talk to me. We were in a field while the rest of our classmates learned to play soccer when one of them seemed angry at the boy and began yelling and making a scene, causing an earthquake. The boy held me while the ground shook and crumbled but he still said nothing. Finally, we escaped and left our class despite the teacher’s objections. We ended up in a hotel room that had almost no walls, only windows. Outside a storm with green lightening and swirling clouds raged outside. We snuggled on the couch and I asked if he felt anything for me, the way I inexplicably did for him. He replied yes, but that we couldn’t be together for it would come at a great cost to me. I told him I didn’t care, that I felt he was worth whatever cost he spoke of, though he wouldn’t tell me what it was. Despite his sad expression, he leaned in to kiss me. I closed my eyes and kissed him back, passionately, lovingly, it was as if something inside me had been made whole with this simple kiss. But when I opened my eyes, I only saw darkness. I was blind. I didn’t panic, because I could still feel his arms, his breath on my face, and then he spoke. “If you love Death, you’ll never see.”
AI generated interpretation The dream presents a complex and intriguing imagery consisting of a college-like setting, natural disasters, animals, magic, and a mysterious boy. The presence of dark elements, symbols of impending danger, and an apocalyptic atmosphere convey a sense of anxiety and uncertainty. The boy represents a potential source of comfort and companionship, yet his identity as Death creates a conflicting emotional response. The boy's appearance as cute and affectionate suggests an emotional investment and attraction to the concept of Death. The association with a young boy can symbolize new beginnings, innocence, and unexpected developments. However, Death is also a universal symbol of finality, endings, and a natural process that all life must face. It represents a complex and intense emotional theme that cannot be faced lightly. The dreamer's focus on exploring the pet store and the troubled condition of the animals shows a sense of empathy and concern for the welfare of others, especially those in a vulnerable position. The imagery of the baby rats with kittens and lethal jellyfish implies a sense of chaos and disorder. This may suggest a subconscious feeling of confusion or a lack of control over the changing world. The earthquake and the boy's response to it emphasize the need for companionship and support in times of crisis. The absence of dialogue between the dreamer and the boy indicates a need for emotional expression or the unconscious avoidance of conflict. The revelation that the boy is Death illustrates the subconscious recognition of the finality of life, the concept of mortality, and the struggle to accept it. The final scene of the dream when the boy tells the dreamer that she will never see if she loves Death represents a symbolic warning. It suggests that acceptance of Death as an ally or partner may result in the loss of sight, insight, or awareness. The dreamer's acceptance of this warning indicates a willingness to face and embrace difficult and potentially dangerous aspects of reality in exchange for companionship and a sense of belonging. In summary, the dream presents a complex and intense emotional theme of acceptance and companionship amidst an ever-changing and uncertain world. The imagery and symbols used by the dreamer's subconscious illustrate the need for empathy, support, and understanding to overcome anxiety and fear of the unknown.
